Currently, the painting is housed at the
Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio, United States. It was first exhibited in New York City in 1860 and later acquired by William T. Walters. In 1866, it was purchased by John Taylor Johnston and then sold to John Work Garrett in 1876. The painting has been part of the Cleveland Museum's collection since 1965, when it was acquired through the Mr. and Mrs. William H. Marlatt Fund.
