It's a typical visual space that evaporates, fracturing, and makes way for a flowing dynamic that catches the observer's attention with its dizzying speed. The painting, which was created in 1912 during a visit in Düsseldorf and is now housed at the GAM of Milan as part of the Grassi Collection, is a cornerstone in Giacomo Balla's study of human movement. This oil on canvas, acquired directly from the painter by collector Carlo Grassi in 1950, depicts Balla's eight-year-old daughter, Luce, running along the balcony of the Master's home in Rome.The girl's boots are repeated in a more regular rhythmic manner at the bottom, in a more visible shape. Hair of the youthful protagonist, with a braid going down towards the bottom of the picture, at the top, with more tiredness. While it is feasible to see, most likely, the spatial dislocation towards the right of her garment in the blue centre area of the painting, the grid of vertical lines, which is secondary in comparison to the picture of the kid, alludes to the balcony railing. Giacomo Balla dismantles Luce's run, which is depicted by a sequence of consecutive pictures.
