Menso Kamerlingh Onnes was a Dutch painter, considered part of the Hague School. He was born in Brussels in 1860 and died in Oegstgeest in 1925. He was the brother of Nobel Prize winner Heike Kamerlingh Onnes and brother-in-law of the physicist Hendrik Lorentz. He studied at a polytechnic college before pursuing his creative career. He settled in the city of The Hague and became a member of the Pulchri Studio, an artists' association. He painted mainly landscapes and still lifes, and was known for his use of light and color. He exhibited his work in the Netherlands and abroad, and received several awards for his paintings. His work is represented in several museums, including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
