Nuri Iyem

Nuri Iyem was a Turkish painter born in Aksaray, Istanbul in 1915 and died in Istanbul in 2005. He is known for his social realism style and his oil on board paintings. He is considered one of the most famous Turkish painters of the 20th century, known for his portraits of sad and human women. He studied at the Nazmi Ziya, Hikmet Onat, Ibrahim Çalli and the Leopold Levy schools. His works are exhibited in many museums and galleries around the world, including the Istanbul Modern, the Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul and the Bilgi University Sanat Merkezi in Istanbul.
