Introduction

The Royal Library consists of several buildings, including the main library building on Slotsholmen Island, which was completed in 1906 and is considered a masterpiece of Danish National Romantic architecture. The library also includes the Black Diamond, a modern extension completed in 1999, which houses a variety of cultural institutions including the National Museum of Photography and the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
