Herbert Edward Cooper Robinson (1858-1933) was a Sydney based Australian cartographer active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was baptized on January 6, 1858, at Winchester, Hampshire, England, and was the sixth child of Sidney Rudge Robinson, a medical practitioner, and his first wife Katherine Emily, née … He founded the H.E.C. Robinson Pty Ltd map publishing company, which was to merge with Gregory's Guides in the 1930s. In the 1900s, the business was operating from 41 Phillip Street Sydney. He was a founder of the (Royal) Geographical Society of Australasia in 1885, a member of the Geographical Society of New South Wales in the late 1920s and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society of London. He produced maps of New South Wales, Australasia, and the Solomon Islands.
